Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership

The Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership Board brings together the previous Community Safety Partnership and the Environmental Wellbeing Partnership. The priorities for the partnership will be informed by local strategies and national priorities as well as other cross cutting issues identified through working with the community and with local agencies.

Promoting respect and reducing anti-social behaviour, promoting clean and greener public spaces, reducing domestic abuse, reducing the harm caused by illegal drugs, reducing the number of young people involved in crime and improving the quality of life for our citizens are just some of the Partnership’s priorities.

In addition the partnership will take the lead in empowering local people to have a greater voice and influence over local decision making and the delivery of services. This is a specific aim in the Community Strategy and will provide an opportunity for building on the existing strong relationships between local agencies and the voluntary and community sector.

Ken Taylor, Chair of the Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership says, "Bringing the two partnerships together provides us with an exciting opportunity to focus on the needs of our communities and to align our strategies, services and resources to work more effectively to meet these. Through this joint approach I see us making a significant difference on key challenges such as increasing community safety, improving the environment where we live and work and developing local actions to contribute to addressing climate change."
