Skills Enterprise and Work Partnership

The Skills, Enterprise and Work Partnership has been developed to drive forward the economic development and learning agendas as set out in the Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement. The new group joins together the Economic and Regeneration Partnership and the Learning Partnership to ensure that more work opportunities are available, that people have the right skills that employers are looking for and that the district continues to develop a forward looking culture.

This includes bringing more people into employment, meeting employer’s skill needs, building an entrepreneurial culture, improving employment rates, putting more people with mental health and learning disabilities in employment, ensuring business growth, reducing business crime and improving skills, confidence and motivation throughout the district.

Heather MacDonald, Chair of the Skills, Enterprise and Work Partnership says "As a member of the Wakefield Together Partnership Board since its inception and the recently appointed Deputy Chair I am deeply committed to working with partners to deliver the economic, social and cultural regeneration of our District. It was a privilege to be asked to chair the Skills, Enterprise and Work Partnership and to have the opportunity to work alongside such talented partners to address the challenges outlined in the District's Community Strategy 'Developing Knowledge Communities'.  These are real challenges but I believe that by working together the benefits will be far reaching.  Together we can open the door of opportunity and success for many, many more of our community."
