Community Empowerment Network - VOX

VOX is the Community Empowerment Network for the Wakefield District.

The aim of VOX is to represent and bring together voluntary and community organisations in Wakefield District, especially those that represent or work in deprived neighbourhoods and marginalized communities. VOX provides an independent forum where these groups can communicate with one another, share ideas and join together to make their voices heard.

VOX's membership is drawn from a variety of sectors including health, recreation, social care, and the environment. Members also range from large international charities with a local presence to small community groups, along with representatives of Communities of Interest, including: Black and minority ethnic people; lesbian, gay and bisexual people; young people; and people with disabilities, among others.

VOX works to ensure that the voices of all of its members are equally heard. VOX has one representative on the Wakefield Together Partnership Board, and is funded to ensure that the voluntary and community sectors are fully represented.
