Improving Agbrigg & Belle Vue - The Neighbourhood Management Pilot
Agbrigg & Belle Vue is one of the three areas piloting Neighbourhood Management across the District. Neighbourhood Management involves communities working with people who deliver services to improve them in response to the needs of a local neighbourhood. For Agbrigg & Belle Vue the pilot will aim to improve the quality of life for local people through:
- Better management of the local environment;
- Increasing community safety;
- Working with young people;
- Encouraging employment opportunities;
- Developing support for community groups; and
- Empowering local people to take a more pro-active role in decision making
The pilot has a small team based at the Agbrigg & Belle Vue Community Centre. The neighbourhood management team will be working with residents and agencies to identify issues, develop a local strategy and work out how best to improve the area.
As part of neighbourhood management a new Board will be established to monitor progress and oversee the work of the team. For neighbourhood management to work and more importantly to last, people need to get involved.
If you would like to be more actively involved in the Board, working groups, want to find out more about how neighbourhood management is going to work or have ideas for improving the area please call into the Agbrigg & Belle Vue Community Centre on Montague Street or telephone Shez Iqbal, Neighbourhood Manager, on 01924 303309.
