Jul 2005: Local Area Agreements

The Government has announced that Wakefield is one of 66 top tier authorities to sign up to join the second phase of Local Area Agreements (LAA) in a move which will help deliver the priorities of local people. The announcement of the new pilot acknowledges the success of the first round of LAAs since their launch in July 2004, and the real benefits they can deliver to communities through bringing together key local partners to improve local services.

The new LAA will enable local partners to focus activities on the key improvement activities of the District and to match funding more directly to those priorities. The LAA will provide the delivery plan for the Fast Forward Community Strategy and will be a central feature and influence on the WDP. Further details are available in the Local Area Agreements Guidance document which can be located by visiting the ODPM website.
