Sep 2006: Wakefield Beacon Council Open Day - Enabling Positive Youth Engagement
Date: 28 September 2006
Time: 12noon – 5.30pm
Venue: Town Hall, Wakefield
The involvement of young people has been a strength within the Council for some years. There is a strong corporate support through senior officers and elected members and young people in Wakefield have direct involvement in the Wakefield District Partnership.
The innovative and informative event enabled delegates to witness first hand youth engagement activities that have been developed in the District.
The event featured workshops on: the use of innovation and technology in positive youth engagement; grant giving; enabling the involvement of young people in recruitment and selection; the use of arts in positive youth engagement and quality assurance-young people as inspectors and mystery shoppers. There was also a ‘marketplace’ showcasing the experiences of young people and partners as well as performances and presentations by young people in Wakefield.
