Wakefield Speaks events are touring the district. The events are an opportunity for you to come along and find out about how partners are working to deliver services and have your say in what happens in the future. During the programme of events people from around the district have helped to create a vision for the district, we have listened to what you said and have new emphasis on what matters to you most. The new challenges that we face in Developing Knowledge Communities are on:

  • Safer and stronger communities
  • Healthier communities
  • Skills and enterprise

To meet these challenges we want to work more closely with the community and voluntary sector - encouraging people to become more involved in where they live and help each other; we are doing this by focusing future events on the three challenges. We would like to extend an invitation for you to attend and to have your say. The first event will focus on building Safer and Stronger Communities and at this event you will be able to find out about some of the work that has been happening to make the district a safer place for you to live and work. We would also like you to identify some of the things that are happening locally.

Do you have a problem with anti social behaviour where you live?

Do you want to raise issues that are affecting the places where you live?

... if you do then Wakefield Speaks provides the opportunity for you to have your say.

At the events you will be able to hear from partners on how they are tackling issues such as crime, anti social behaviour and things that are affecting your neighbourhoods. This links into a national campaign called Not In My Neighbourhood which is all about working together to stop crime and anti social behaviour where you live.

Special Guest and Compere is Ian Clayton - Writer, Story Teller and TV Presenter. During the events there will be presentations, inter active voting and workshops and lots of opportunities for you to get involved. There will also be a special performance by the Momentum Community Dance Group.

We want to ensure that everything we do reflects the things that matter to you most and ensure that service delivery meets local needs.
