Dec 2007 - 'Positively Ageing' consultation started
Wakefield Together is responding to changes taking place in the age profile of the local population by developing ' Positively Ageing' - A Strategy for an Ageing Population. Today the District is home to over 110, 000 people aged over 50, about 33% of the total population, but the older population is growing much faster than the population as a whole. By 2021 it is predicted that 41% of the local population will be aged over 50.
The aim of the strategy is to achieve positive ageing for all, enabling more people to live a longer, more productive and healthier later life.
Part of this process involves asking and listening to the opinions of our citizens, so we have launched a new consultation on the Wakefield Together website.
This part of the consultation process is now closed. Please go to the Healthier Communities section of the website to see how you can get involved in the next stage of the consultation.
